History of Ahlberg Antiques

Our family has been in the antique business for one hundred years, and spans four generations.
Axel F. Ahlberg, an accomplished cabinetmaker from Sweden, came to
America and opened his first antique shop in New Haven, Connecticut
in 1906. In the 1920's his four sons, Edwin, Arne, Nils and Ferd,
joined him to work in the family business, buying and selling American
antiques.
In 1928 Edwin, the oldest son, went out on his own and opened his own
shop. carrying on the family tradition his two sons, Edwin Jr. and
Fred, started working with him in the 1940's, and in the 1980's Edwin III
joined them.
Our first antique show was in 1936 and since then we have exhibited in
several major shows from Boston to Washington, D.C.
We specialize in formal American and high style country furniture, as
well as appropriate accessories.
Over the past century we have been very fortunate to work with museums,
veteran collectors and beginners to help them acquire items for their
collections. We give a written guarantee on all items we sell to be as
represented.
Please feel free to visit our shop in this beautiful
shoreline town, just 1 mile from many nice waterfront restaurants.
We look forward to having the opportunity of working with you.
